Leader FAQs
Do I need a Lighthouse T shirt if I am not a Lighthouse Keeper or Lamplighter?
Everyone who is helping while the children are on site needs a Lighthouse T Shirt.
I am regularly help at Lighthouse, why didn't you send me an leader application form this year?
We are really sorry if we deleted you by mistake, the database is BIG and we are processing 1000s of forms every year, so occasionally we get things wrong. Each new year we contact past leaders, sending an application form to be filled in and returned. If we don't hear from you, we try again. And then again! After the third contact, we automatically delete you from the Lighthouse database. No exceptions, even if you are a Lighthouse Trustee - the data protection act is very frightening! To stay on the database, all you have to do is to return the application form we sent you. There is an "I am unavailable this year, but contact me again next year" option. Alternatively you can contact us by phone or email and tell us to keep you on the list. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE respond to the first mailing we send you. It is expensive and time consuming to contact people lots of times, but we really need and value the help of our past and experienced leaders, which is why we try three times.
Do I need a car park ticket to park in the Lighthouse car park?
No car park ticket is necessary.
What do I do if I cannot attend the dedication meeting the day before Lighthouse?
You must contact your Age Group Leader to inform them. They will be able to arrange with you how to collect any necessary information or T-shirts on the first day of Lighthouse. However, all leaders are strongly urged to attend this Sunday meeting, and it should not be missed without urgent cause.
I have a child/sibling attending Lighthouse -is it possible for them to be dropped off at the same time as me in the mornings?
Yes, Lighthouse runs a special area for leaders' children/siblings in the mornings, from the time at which leaders arrive until the Lighthouse programme for the rest of the children starts. Please contact the admin office if you would like to register your child/sibling for this morning programme.
How do I know if my CRB needs to be renewed?
We will inform you if your CRB needs to be renewed in any given year by sending you a letter indicating this and providing you with a CRB application form and guide. These will be sent to you in the same envelope as our response letter to you after we have received your Lighthouse leaders application form. CRB checks need to be renewed every 3 years.
My son is 16. Does he need a CRB?
No -CRB checks are required only for those who are aged 17 or over during Lighthouse week/Fresh Café.
My daughter is a Lamplighter. Which meetings does she need to attend?
She should attend all appropriate meetings to her role, as detailed on the “Key Times & Dates” information sheet we sent her. If you are unable to be at a meeting, you must contact your Age Group Leader/Team Co-ordinator and let them know.
Why do I need to have a new reference every three years?
This is the procedure which the Lighthouse Trustees have adopted because Lighthouse does not maintain continuous contact with its volunteers throughout the year, and thus regular reference “refreshments” are a security necessity.
The provisional dates for Lighthouse 2011 are Monday 25th to Friday 29th July. |
