Lighthouse Hazlemere and High Wycombe require all volunteers to provide the names of two people who can be asked to provide references for the volunteer.  We write to the nominated referees asking them to provide a reference.  If the volunteer has continuous service (i.e. helps every year), we write to the nominated referee once every three years for an updated reference.  If there is a break of service (i.e. the person does not work at Lighthouse one year), we write to the nominated referee when the volunteer next applies to help at Lighthouse.
